Mitigation on Roof Damage
Roof Tarp Placed as Mitigation
Mitigation is a term used by the insurance to lessen further damage after the initial disaster. The initial disaster for this home was a tree that had fallen during a wind storm. Nobody was injured but the home was exposed to further damage by rain.
While waiting for an adjuster and an estimate the technicians from SERVPRO of Central Schaumburg / West Bloomingdale placed a tarp on the roof to keep the water out during rain storms. Mitigation means not having another water damage added on top of the roof damage. It would become a second claim against the homeowner in the end.
